小泉朋美の育った家は、代々山を持っており、現在でも、海の近くのその山の脇で暮らし、畑もある。昔は米も作っていた。
幼少の頃からの生い立ちを冒頭に書くのは、小泉の創作の原点が、幼い時期からの記憶で成り立っているものという気がするからだ。
真夏の帰り道、田んぼのただ中に自分がぽつねんと佇む。風のにおいを受けとめる。月と太陽を同時に見る。
虫や小動物たちが身近にいる。風の強い日に部屋の中でその勢いのある音を聞く。雨の降りしきる湿った一日を感じる。そんな、小さな記憶の断片。
その心に留めておく小さなモノは、ただ、溜まっていく。混ざり合うようで合わない。積み重なって 新たな形に常に変化してゆく。

The Family in that KOIZUMI Tomomi was brought up has a mountain for generations, and even today, she lives besides the mountain near the sea.
There is also a field. The family had planted rice in the old days.
I wrote her life when she was a child at the beginning because I think that the origin of Koizumi's work consists of her memory from her childhood.
On the way home in the middle of summer, she stands alone on the very center of a field.
She receives the smell of wind. She sees the moon and the sun at the same time.
There are insects and small animals near her. She listens to wind's strong sound in her room on the day of high wind.
She feels a moist day in a shower. Such fragments of memory.
The small things that she keeps in her heart, they are simply accumulated.
They seem to be mixed, but don't do. They are piled up and are constantly changing into new figure.

小泉朋美在山林裡被撫養長大，直至今日，她仍住在鄰海地區的山腳下，那裏有大片以前曾用以種稻的田野。
筆者以小泉朋美的生長背景為起點是因為筆者相信小泉朋美的作品原素多由她幼時的記憶所堆疊而成。
夏至時分，她在返家途中駐足於田野中。小泉朋美的成長環境讓她能接近大自然，她能嗅聞出風的氣息、能觀察到月亮與太陽同時在空中的時分、各種昆蟲及小動物是她成長的同伴，此外，小泉朋美也曾窩在房裡聽著暴風的巨響、感受雨天時潮濕的空氣，這些細碎的記憶的片段一點一滴的累積，似乎要融合成一團卻又有彼此區別，小泉朋美用畫筆賦予這些堆疊起來的記憶新的樣貌。
