展覧会：「Chiral. Achiral.」について
今回の個展タイトルの「キラル/Chiral」とは“図形や物体や現象が、その鏡像と重ね合わせられないこと”であり、「アキラル/Achiral」とは（前者とは逆に）“鏡像が重ねあわされること”を言う。元々これらは分子構造とその性質を表す時に使われる言葉だという。
日常では、キラル/アキラルなるものが同居して千差万別であるが、通常そのことは意識されない。しかし森の表現する世界の中では、物同士が鏡像のように 映し合い、対称性を持ち、かさなり、離れー混じり合いながら出現する。
それはまるで、重ねられない「現実」と「夢の中の自分」、「鏡像にもなりえない今日」と「明日の自分自身」の対比であり、その事実に対する“とまどい”と“許容”が入り混じりながら作品の中に現されているようである。

音楽記号はひとつの短い記号・言葉で深く、多くの意味を表せるようになっており、同時に曖昧な感覚や技術を伝達する為の “コミュニケーションツール”として長い年月をかけて人類により完成させられた背景を持つ。
森も描く行為で“コミュニケート”をしている。ただし森のそれは、他者との対話や鑑賞者へのクエスチョンと同時に、純粋な自問自答でもある。 繊細なのか強靭なのか、束の間の夢なのか、それとも永遠の安寧なのか—相反する自分自身の心の内側を曝け出し、無意識の世界や漠とした違和感、絶望・希望をどこまでも暖かく、前向きに表現している。そして、作品の中の彼女の意図、メッセージに共感した瞬間、我々は甘い幸福に包まれるのだ。

About the exhibition
This exhibition title, “Chiral” is a term used to describe a figure, an object, or a phenomenon that cannot be superimposed on its mirror image whereas “Achiral” refers to something which can. These words are specialist terms used when discussing molecular configuration and its characteristics. In daily life, “chiral” and “achiral” aspects coexist, however in Mori’s work, things are projected onto each other like mirror images, becoming symmetric, and following on from each other in succession, parting, and appearing to merge and mix, as if in a dream.
In the titles of her works, Mori often uses music notation which can convey a certain sense of profundity. One short sign or word can have a variety of meanings, the result of having been developed as a “communication tool” over many years to transmit both a vague sense of meaning and as a type of technology. Mori also creates “communication" through the act of drawing. They constitute a pure pondering about herself, as well as a way by which to strike up a conversation with others and to pose questions to the viewer.
Is it delicate or strong? Is it a short-lived dream? Mori lets us into her conflicted mind, and warmly and positively expresses the unconscious world, with a sense of vague incompatibility, despair, and hope. We are filled with a sweet happiness when sympathizing with her intentions and the messages conveyed within her work.
